Mark J. Weadick

Mark Weadick has more than 35 years of experience in student loan finance and now specializes in providing strategic consulting and financial advisory services to industry participants. Mr. Weadick joined SLCS in June 2008. Before joining SLCS, he was the co-head of Citigroup’s Student Loan Investment Banking Group, and worked for both Citigroup (originally joining Smith Barney in 1996) and William R. Hough & Co. Mr. Weadick has served as project lead and primary contact for over 20 different entities, both as financial advisor and as senior managing underwriter. Mark previously held Series 7, Series 63, Series 24 and Series 53 securities licenses. He has also completed numerous strategic transactions for clients, including loan portfolio acquisitions and sales, guaranty agency divestitures and private loan program development.

Mr. Weadick also served as the chief financial officer for Student Loan Funding Corporation (Ohio’s state secondary market which was later sold to Sallie Mae) from 1991 to 1996. Mark has also worked as a certified public accountant (inactive) for Arthur Andersen & Co. and as a corporate/securities lawyer (inactive) at Taft Stettinius & Hollister. Mr. Weadick is an honors graduate of both Bowling Green State University (B.S. in Accounting) and the University of Cincinnati, College of Law (J.D.). Mr. Weadick was a founding board member of the Education Finance Council in 1993 and served as Treasurer and Vice Chairman.
